Mr. Wayne D. Alton Tanner, age 78, died September 12, 1994 at Idaho Falls Care Center of causes incident to age.

He was born February 15, 1916 at Payson, Utah, the son of John D. Alton Tanner and Eliza Tiffany Tanner. He lived in Payson for many years, graduating from Payson High School in 1934. He worked in the CCC for 19 months.He married Lydia May Adair December 18, 1937, at the courthouse in Manti, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 14, 1958. He operated farms in Payson and Parma, Idaho, for many years. Later in life he drove moving vans for a nationwide company, worked as a church custodian, and as a mobile home park manager.

An active member of the LDS Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent, stake missionary, in the Elders Quorum presidency, on the Scout Troop Committee, in welfare farm work, and as a worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was known and loved for the poetry he wrote and memorized while driving truck across the country.

He enjoyed doing latch hook, temple work, and being narrator at social gatherings.

Surviving are: his wife, May Tanner, Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Mrs. Alvin "Betty Jean" Schramm, Barnwell, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Mrs. Clayton "Connie Lucile" Boodry, Magrath-Alberta, Canada; son, Daryl Wayne Tanner, San Jose, Calif.; sister, Mrs. Boyd "Jennie" Wilson, Payson, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16, 1994, at 2 p.m., at the Lincoln LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, Mesa and Hitt Road, with Bishop Alden Wynn officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.

Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 17. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho
