CBS gives viewers a preview of one of the season's best new shows this weekend.
The medical drama "Chicago Hope" debuts Sunday at 7 p.m. on Ch. 5, and it's worth taking a look at. David E. Kelley, the creator/writer/producer of the Emmy-winning "Picket Fences," turns his considerable talents toward a hospital this time."Chicago Hope" is at the opposite end of the spectrum from "St. Elsewhere." This is a rich, powerful, state-of-the-art facility that's among the nation's best, which is why the staff attempts to separate conjoined twins in the series opener.
The cast is outstanding - Adam Arkin, Mandy Patinkin, E.G. Marshall and Hector Elizondo, to name but a few. They quickly create believable characters the audience can identify.
And the news gets even better. The show's second episode, which airs Thursday at 9 p.m., is better than the first.
