Applications for permits to cut Christmas trees on National Forest Land are now available at any Forest Service Office. Post Offices in Ash Fork, Seligman, Williams, Kingman, Page and Lake Havasu City will have applications as well.
A random drawing process is used to issue permits. Applications must be postmarked on or before Oct. 14. A check or money order for $10 must accompany each application; only one submission per household will be accepted.There are 17 cutting areas spread over the Kaibab, Coconino, Prescott and Apache-Sitgreaves national forests. Applicants can choose up to six areas from which to cut their tree. Permits will be mailed Nov. 10 to those selected and checks or money orders will be returned to unsuccessful applicants. The cutting period will be from Nov. 10 to Dec. 24.
The North Kaibab Ranger District will sell over-the-counter permits beginning Nov. 15. The over-the-counter permits can be obtained for $10 at the Forest service office in Fredonia. For more information contact any Forest Service Office.
