Utah County sheriff's detectives have identified a body found floating in Utah Lake last week as a man named Paula Liu, 21, from Tonga.
Liu's body was found by two men boating on the lake last Friday. Detective Scott Carter said investigators believe Liu's body had been in the lake for about six days. The state medical examiner's office found no definite cause of death and no signs of a struggle. However, medical examiners will not officially rule on the death until they receive toxicology reports in a few weeks.
Carter said Liu had been in the United States since August 1993. He was last seen at a party Sept. 2 at Sandy Beach near Lake Shore. He was last seen drinking heavily and sitting around a campfire when they all went to sleep, witnesses said. No one reported him missing.
