Prosecutors have decided not to file burglary charges against a woman accused of killing a 75-year-old Logan man to gain access to his finances.
Debra Brown, 37, Hailey, Idaho, was charged with aggravated murder, a capital offense, in 1st Circuit Court Monday.Prosecutors said Debra Brown killed Lael Brown, of no relation, on or about Nov. 6, 1993, and forged checks totaling $3,500.
Deputy Cache County Attorney James Jenkins, who will be prosecuting the case, said no burglary charges will be filed.
Because there were no signs of a forced entry, investigators have determined that Debra Brown, who cleaned Lael Brown's home, was the only person besides him who had a key to his house.
He was shot three times in the head while he was asleep or just waking up. Investigators said it may have been with his own gun, a .22-caliber Colt Woodsman handgun, which is still missing from the residence along with its leather holster.
