Cache County School District has reached a wage-and-benefits settlement with its teachers calling for a 4.8 percent salary hike.

The agreement finalized Thursday also gives teachers full coverage with Educators Mutual Insurance Association, and a possible Christmas bonus of up to 1 percent.Jan Hall, spokesman for the Cache Education Association's negotiations team, said teachers ratified the agreement Wednesday night.

The school board approved the package Thursday, though Board President Carol Funk voted against it. She would not explain why she voted no.

Statewide, two of the state's 40 districts are still waiting for a settlement. Of those districts that have settled, four received the statewide high of a 5 percent salary increase.

Cache and one other district received the second-highest salary increase, at 4.8 percent, according to Utah Education Association Research Director Jim Eldredge.
