It took more than a week, but investigators over the weekend finally learned the identity of an auto-pedestrian accident victim.
The dead man was identified after his description and a photograph of one of his tattoos was printed in Friday's Deseret News.He was identified as Frank David Davila, 29.
Davila was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing 700 East near 2720 South about 10 p.m. on Sept. 9. He was carrying no identification. Despite many efforts, detectives were unable to identify him until Saturday when a South Salt Lake subscriber recognized the tattoo and called Salt Lake police.
Officers found Davila's sister, who identified a photograph. Other family members positively identified the victim's body later that evening.
