The Salt Lake City Planning Commission will kick off a series of open houses and public hearings on the draft version of a proposed zoning ordinance Thursday.
The Planning Department began revamping the ordinance in 1991. Three years later, it has a draft version that does away with the piecemeal approach of the current zoning ordinance.Thursday's open house will be held at the Highland High School Library, 2166 S. 1700 East, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the same location.
The new ordinance streamlines the process to be followed for several types of zoning issues, including conditional-use permits. It also creates several new zones.
