DEATH: GEORGE MCKAY ANDERSON

George McKay Anderson, 82, passed away September 20, 1994 at his home in Moroni.

Born January 13, 1912 in Moroni to Neils Heber and Mary Ann Knopp Anderson. Married Afton Kay, Dec. 23, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Graduated from Moroni High School in 1931, after serving as student body president in his junior year and class president as a senior. Graduated from both Snow College and BYU. Taught for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Seminary instructor for over 35 years, many years instructing young people in the Book of Mormon. Bishop for the LDS Church at the age of 28, served as Moroni Utah Stake president for 18 years. Served an LDS mission to Billings, Montana with his wife and was temple sealer and worker in the Manti LDS Temple. Served as Moroni Stake Patriarch for 10 years.

Survived by wife, Afton Kay Anderson, Moroni; sons and daughters, Mrs. J. Earl (Kaye) Hurst, Mrs. Earl (Virginia) Johnson, both of Salt Lake City; Paul M. Anderson, Orem; G. Niel Anderson, Noblesville, Indiana; Jerry K. Anderson, Pocatello, Idaho; Mark K. Anderson, Manti and Mrs. Wayne (Marilyn) Turnbow, Aurora, Colorado; sister, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Christensen, Moroni; 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services Saturday, Sept. 24, 1994, 11 a.m., Moroni LDS Stake Center, 82 North Center. Friends may call at the stake center Friday 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Moroni City Cemetery under direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home.
