ESCAPEES FROM 2 UTAH FACILITIES HAVE LEFT STATE, OFFICIALS BELIEVE

Corrections officials believe two men who disappeared from separate state correctional facilities this week have left Utah.

Investigators confirmed that convicted rapist Jerome V. Trafny boarded a flight that probably took him to Canada. Trafny walked away from the Bonneville Community Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City last Sunday, said Jack Ford, Corrections spokesman.Ford said investigators also believe an escapee from the prison's Lone Peak minimum security facility may have left the state. Last Saturday, Bill Freeman, 35, escaped from the Camp Williams location about 8:30 a.m. He has family in the area, but police haven't been able to locate him.

He was in prison on burglary charges but has been in the prison system since the early '80s, Ford said.
