"Minority Business- Strengthening America's Competitive Edge," is the theme of the national Minority Enterprise Development Week, Oct. 9-15.

Local activities include the Ethnic Young Achievers Scholarship breakfast to be held Monday, Oct. 3. Honorees will receive $1,000 scholarships from contributors that include nine major corporations and banks.The annual Business Awards Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Oct.5 at the Marriott Hotel from noon to 2 p.m. Ginger Conrad, publisher of "Minority Enterprise Entrepreneur" magazine, will be the keynote speaker.

The luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person.

The activities are sponsored by IMPACT Salt Lake City Minority Business Development Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration, Salt Lake City District Office.
