NO. 2-RANKED AMERICAN FORK STUNNED BY OREM; BONNEVILLE, LOGAN, DIXIE ROLL

Second-ranked American Fork knew it was going to have a hard time remaining undefeated as it visited the Orem Tigers Friday night. What the Cavemen didn't know was that they were not only going to lose but not score either.

Orem scored a touchdown in each quarter and watched its defense put up a stellar performance as the Tigers blanked the Cavemen 28-0.Nathan Layson rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries to lead the way for Orem, which has fought its way back from an 0-2 injury-plagued start to win its last three games.

Quarterback Randy Lamoreaux added a 16-yard touchdown pass and and a 34-yard TD run to cap the scoring for Orem.

Meanwhile the Tiger defense was on the prowl all night long. American Fork was held to just 84 yards of total offense, a far cry from its season average.

Region 1

Bonneville 61, Fremont 28

At Fremont, the Lakers outlasted the Silver Wolves in wild region shootout. Tyler Gladwell threw for 368 yards and five touchdowns for Bonneville (4-1) while rushing for another score.

Layton 41, Roy 0

At Roy, Trevor Black's two touchdown runs led a group of five different scorers as the Lancer ripped the Royals. Trent Teeples 72-yard run in the first quarter got things started for Layton.

Clearfield 44, Weber 6

At Weber, the Falcons bombed the Warriors and spoiled Weber's homecoming. Clearfield improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in region play.

Region 3

Taylorsville 21, Kearns 13

At Kearns, the Warriors came back from a 13-0 deficit to defeat the Cougars. Taylorsville (2-3, 1-1) scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, capped by Chad Huff's 15-yard run that put the game out of Kearn's (0-5, 0-2) reach.

West Jordan 10, Granger 6

At West Jordan, Ski Afatasi's 99-yard punt return was the only touchdown in the game and helped the Jaguars down the Lancers. West Jordan (4-1, 2-0) intercepted a Granger pass on the Jaguar 10-yard line late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Region 5

Logan 49, Ben Lomond 0

At Ben Lomond, the Grizzlies put a damper on the homecoming celebration of the Scots. Jared Johnson threw three touchdown passes for Logan (4-1, 3-0).

Mountain Crest 23, Box Elder 17

At Box Elder, Jeff Crosbie threw three touchdown passes, including the game winner in overtime, to lead the Mustangs over the Bees. Mountain Crest improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in region play.

Sky View 35, Ogden 14

At Sky View, the Bobcats picked up their first region win of the season by dumping the Tigers. Sky View upped its record to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in region action.

Region 6

Judge 30, Granite 12

At Granite, Drew Searle rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns to help the Bulldogs race past the Farmers. Judge's (3-2, 1-1) defense held Granite (0-5, 0-2) to 68 yards of total offense.

Murray 26, Tooele 21

At Tooele, the Spartans got back on the winning track by stopping the Buffaloes. Murray rushed 57 times for 232 yards, led by Casey Davies's 78 yards and one TD.

Region 7

Woods Cross 37, East 12

At Woods Cross, quarterback Jesse Malmrose rushed for four touchdowns as the Wildcats clawed the Leopards in a region catfight. Malmrose garnered 144 yards rushing and 96 yards passing for Woods Cross (2-3, 2-0) while teammate Ryan Erickson ran for 109 yards.

Region 9

Dixie 21, Cedar City 8

At Dixie, Jared Huddleston had touchdown runs of six and 47 yards to help the Flyers overpower the Redmen in their region opener. Dixie improved to 4-1 overall with the win.

Hurricane 22, Snow Canyon 7

At Snow Canyon, the Tigers won their first game of the season as they defeated the Warriors.

Region 10

Lehi 29, Union 27 OT

At Lehi, the Pioneers (2-2, 1-0) scored a touchdown and two-point conversion in overtime to help them defeat the Cougars. Union (1-4, 1-1) scored on their overtime possession but the two-point try to tie failed.

Park City 21, Wasatch 7

At Wasatch, the Miners picked up their first win of the season with a road victory over the Wasps. Three different players scored touchdowns for Park City (1-4, 1-1).

Region 11

Carbon 26, Emery 6

At Carbon, Kenny Manzanares scored two touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards to lead the Dinos past the Spartans. Carbon improved to 3-2 and 1-1 in region action.

North Sanpete 14, Richfield 7

At Richfield, Eric Dykes and Cody Church each had touchdown runs to lead the Hawks past the Wildcats.

Region 12

Grantsville 30, Gunnison 8

At Grantsville, the Cowboys received three touchdown runs by Richard Mouritsen as they roped the Bulldogs. Grantsville (2-3, 2-2) led 30-0 at halftime.

Juab 10, Morgan 9

At Morgan, Nick Bowles' four-yard TD run helped the Wasps come back from a 9-0 deficit to defeat the Trojans. Ben Sutorious rushed for 118 yards for Juab (4-1, 3-1).

Manti 20, North Summit 6

At North Summit, the Templars picked up a big region road victory by defeating the Braves.

South Summit 36, Millard 6

At South Summit, the Wildcats broke open a tight game in the third quarter and rolled to a win over the Eagles. Cody Atkinson ran 18 yards for one South Summit (4-1, 4-0) touchdown and threw a 35-yard scoring strike to Amos Crystal

Region 13

Beaver 27, Parowan 0

At Beaver, Kevin Brown threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Beavers crushed the Rams. Cory Hollingshead returned an interception 35 yards for the other Beaver (4-1, 3-1) touchdown.

Kanab 14, San Juan 9

At Kanab, Vaughn Jackson ran for one TD and returned an interception 50 yards for another score as the Cowboys broke the spirit of the Broncos.

North Sevier 21, Monticello 0

At North Sevier, Mike Peirce, Bart Sorenson and Brian Heath each had touchdown runs to lead the Wolves over the Buckaroos.

Grand 28, South Sevier 27

At South Sevier, the Red Devils snuck out of town with nail-biting win over the Rams.

Class 1A

Whitehorse 46, Monument Valley 0

At Monument Valley, the Raiders capitalized on nmerous turnovers to help them defeat the Cougars. Whitehorse improved to 3-1 with the victory.

Altamont 12, Duchesne 7

At Altamont, Brandon Patterson hauled in a 35-yard TD pass from Chris Huff to give the Long Horns a win over the Eagles. Altamont improved to 4-1 with the victory.

Milford 18, Rich 7

At Milford, the top-ranked Tigers continued to roll over their competition by defeating the third-ranked Rebels. Ricki Rose scored on a one-yard plunge and intercepted two passes to lead the way for Milford (5-0).

Non-Region Games

Cyprus 24, Jordan 21

At Jordan, the Pirates capitalized on five Beetdigger turnovers to upset the fourth-ranked team for their first win of the season. Travis Searle returned one Jordan fumble 40 yards for a touchdown and Chad Huntsman intercepted a pass and galloped 90 yards for another TD for Cyprus (1-3).

Delta 26, Pine View 20

At Delta, the top-ranked Rabbits outlasted the third-ranked Panthers in a thriller. Delta (5-0) came from behind to tie the game in the fourth quarter and then stopped Pine View (3-2, 1-0 on its overtime possession.

Bear River 35, Evanston, Wyo. 13

At Evanston, Wyo., Stuart Peterson rushed for two touchdowns and caught a 33-yard TD pass to lead the Bears to a road victory.
