Three Salt Lake-area men, ages 21, 39 and 43, were charged Friday with operating a narcotics laboratory, a first-degree felony, after police entered a Sandy residence on a search warrant.

After entering the house, near 10500 South and 1000 East, police found a safe containing methamphetamine in the garage, court documents state. Police also found methamphetamine on two of the men.In the attic and garage, police found methamphetamine residue in laboratory glassware and suspected ephedrin tablets - an alkaloid used to relieve nasal congestion and asthma - soaking in water, the documents state. The men, who were from Murray and West Valley, said the third man and owner of the house was the sole operator of the lab.
