Salt Lake County's unsolved-homicide task force believes it is close to solving the 1991 slaying of 73-year-old Lucile Miner Johnson.
The woman was beaten to death in her home in Holladay on Feb. 1, 1991.Early leads dried up and the case was stagnant until an anonymous tip led detectives in what they feel is the right direction.
Detectives are now looking for a man who used to live near the victim and for the man's girlfriend.
"We have a couple of suspects, and are leaning hard toward one of them," said sheriff's Lt. Kevin Taylor. "Now, we are interested in seeing if the public has any new information."
Detectives want to know if someone "bragged to a friend" about the murder, Taylor said.
