UTAH YOUTH SYMPHONY SCHEDULES AUDITIONS

The Utah Youth Symphony will hold auditions this week at Gardner Hall on the University of Utah campus.

Auditions for the concert orchestra, conducted by Barbara Scowcroft, will take place Sept. 29 through Oct. 3 at the hall. Members range in age from junior high school to college.The student orchestra, led by Dan Rich, will conduct auditions Saturday, Oct. 1. Members range from elementary-school age through eighth grade.

Times for each must be arranged by calling 942-4868. Participants should be prepared to play a piece; sight-reading and a three-octave scale will also be required.

Both groups rehearse Saturday mornings at the hall.

- THE SALT LAKE CAMARATA, a 12-voice group specializing in the performance of sacred and secular medieval and Renaissance music, is currently auditioning new members.

The group rehearses Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants should be good sight-readers and able to blend. For information call 485-6659 or 581-7289. (An incorrect phone number was listed in last Sunday's Deseret News.)
