A man saying he had a gun robbed a downtown grocery store of an undetermined amount of cash late Monday night, police said.
The customer service clerk at Smith's Food and Drug, 350 W. Freedom Blvd., told Provo police a man handed her a note saying he had a gun and she had 15 seconds to hand him big bills, said Capt. George Pierpont."He had his hand at his waist, but she didn't see a gun," Pierpont said. The clerk reported seeing the man in the store about an hour before the 11:47 p.m. robbery.
The man and another man fled the store on foot. Store workers did not get a good look at the second man, Pierpont said.
