CAPTION ONLY: MAN VS. MACHINE CHALLENGE

A week after visiting Congress with Rep. Karen Shepherd, the Deseret News' Man vs. Machine prep football pick 'ems challenge turns to the United States Senate for help. Senator Orrin Hatch has accepted the assignment to represent the human race in this week's competition against the computer-generated Parry's Power Guide. He will go toe-to-toe with technology in the quest for high school gridiron prediction supremacy. Hatch hopes to increase mankind's shrinking season lead of three games. Indeed, the senator's help is needed. For the year, mankind's lead is down to a 124-121 advantage over the Machine.

Next week (the challenge will appear Tuesday because of the Utah Education Association convention): UEA president Lily Eskelsen.
