Record-high temperatures were set in seven areas Wednesday. Then the rain came.
The new high readings and previous records in parenthesis set for the date: Alta, 70 (68); Brigham City, 88 (86); Delta, 92 (90); Dugway, 90 (89); Salt Lake International Airport, 91 (90); and Tooele, 88 (86).The 91-degree reading at the airport tied the record for the warmest temperature so late in the year.
Some precipitation, including 0.24 of an inch on Aug. 9, has been recorded in recent weeks at the airport. But other amounts have been less than 0.12. Precipitation amounts as of 9 a.m. Thursday included 0.12 at the airport, 0.80 at east Layton, 0.50 on the Ogden bench, 0.16 at Dugway, 0.24 at Brigham City, 0.31 at Logan and 0.16 at the Provo Airport.
