Former Bonneville Pacific attorney David Hirschi obtained a court order Monday requiring Bonneville Pacific's trustee to keep his LDS donations confidential.

Hirschi's tithing records, along with records of former company bosses and their families were turned over to trustee Roger Segal on Tuesday. Church attorneys obeyed a federal court subpoena requiring them to produce 10 years of tithing records for Robert L. Wood, Nora Wood, L. Wynn Johnson, Pamela D. Johnson, David P. Hirschi, Robert N. Pratt, Ray Hixson, Vivian Hixson, Jack T. Dunlop, Nancy K. Dunlop, the Robert L. Wood Family Living Trust, the Pamela D. Johnson Family Living Trust and the R. Hixson Charitable Uni-Trust.Segal wanted to know how much the men and their families had donated to the LDS Church from Jan. 1, 1985, through June 30, 1994.

According to court records, a church representative would also be required to answer questions under oath about the donations during the meeting Tuesday. But the question-and-answer session - called a 2004 exam - didn't take place, said Robert Prince, attorney for the church.

Hirschi obtained a court order because "Mr. Hirschi's religious donations are between him and his God and are nobody's business," said Rick Knuth, attorney for Hirschi.

Hirschi's court order, obtained from U.S. District Bankruptcy Judge John Allen, may have been unnecessary. Even though the others didn't get a court order, their tithing records will be kept confidential, said Vernon Hopkinson, attorney for Bonneville Pacific.

"We don't have to keep them confidential pursuant to a court order, but we're certainly not going public with them," he said. "As with everything in Bonneville Pacific, we don't release the results of our investigation."

Segal seeks to have some of the reported millions of dollars in donations returned to the bankrupt company. Bonneville insiders took $42.4 million out of the company, according to court records.
