Genevieve Bujold is going where no woman has gone before: to the helm of a "Star Trek" series.
She's been cast as the captain in the fourth incarnation of the space adventure, "Star Trek: Voyager," set to debut in January on the new United-Paramount network.The actress will command the Starship USS Voyager as Capt. Elizabeth Jane-way.
The Voyager finds itself stranded in a distant part of the galaxy along with a former enemy vessel, the Maquis. The two crews unite to find their way back to Federation space.
"Star Trek: Voyager" follows "Star Trek: The Next Generation," which concluded its seven-year syndicated run in May, and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," which continues in syndication.
