CAPTION ONLY: AVALANCHE OF MUD CLOSES INTERSTATE

Mud-drenched cars lie piled on top of one another on I-70 west of Glenwood Springs, Colo., after heavy rains sent mud, rocks and charred debris pouring from a burned-over mountain and across the highway. The mudslide, which injured two people and trapped 30 cars in as much as 6 feet of mud until snowplows removed it, came down fire-damaged Storm King Mountain, where 14 firefighters died in July while fighting one of the deadliest fires in U.S. Forest Service history.
