We have less than two months before Election Day on Nov. 8. I hope I don't wake up to the news on Nov. 8 and hear the same thing I heard on June 28, the day of the primary, which was "a very low turnout is expected today for the election."

I am really disappointed in the news media. For as long as I can remember, on the day of every primary in the state of Utah, every news spokesperson always predicts a low turnout. If you were the least bit patriotic, instead of predicting low turnouts, why don't you let people know at least a week or two ahead how important the primary is and that everyone of age 18 and older should become registered and vote? Often times the very best people are eliminated in the primary races.

It is a crime when you use the freedom of press to the point where you only report the unimportant news instead of the major issues and inform the citizens how important their vote really is.

It made no difference to our lives what Tonya Harding did, nor does it make any difference to our lives what O.J. Simpson did or did not do. But it makes a big difference to all of our lives who becomes our elected officials.

When you keep telling people "a very few people are going to vote" in the primary or general election, people get the impression that it isn't important to vote. Or that their vote doesn't matter.
