DEATH: IRENE OLSEN MCCORMICK

Irene Olsen McCormick, 83, died peacefully September 29, 1994 after a courageous struggle with pneumonia.

Born Aug. 30, 1911 in Emery, Utah to Albert S. and Hilda Miller Olsen the youngest of seven children. Moved with her family to Price, Utah in 1918 where they operated the family farm. Graduated from Price High School in 1929 and attended the University of Utah. She met John Elliott McCormick on a blind date and they married April 9, 1938. Marriage was solemnized Aug 29, 1985 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Longtime employee for Auerbach's Department Store, where she worked in the personnel department until her retirement in 1976. Active member of LDS Church where she held positions in Primary, Junior Sunday School, Relief Society, and she and her husband did name extractions for temple work.

Survivors: Joyce Young and her husband, Blaine and their children, Drew, Lockridge and Julie; son, John S. and wife, Nancy D. and their children, Amy, Anna and Andrew. Preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Simon, Osler, Nolan, and Herald and a sister, Ella.

Funeral services Saturday 1 p.m., October 1, 1994 in the Stratford Ward Chapel, 2605 South 1500 East. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the ward Saturday from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to a favorite charity in her name.
