2 golfers earn scholastic honors
Jon Wright, a senior on this year's squad, and Greg Slack, who graduated last year, received All-America scholar honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America. Sponsor Smith-Corona and the GCAA stipulate that each athlete be at least a junior academically and athletically, maintain a 3.2 GPA cumulative and must have competed for two years at a four-year institution while maintaining a stoke average of under 78 in 75 percent of the schools scheduled competitive rounds.
Slack graduated with a 3.21 GPA in political science and sociology and had a stroke average of 74.28. Wright maintains a 3.46 GPA in political science and had a stroke average of 76.4.
Utah is one of five schools to have two players among the 35 recipients.

Distance champ named WAC runner of week
LITTLETON, Colo. - Multiple WAC distance champion Angela Lee was named WAC unner of the Week for her sixth-place finish among 102 collegiate runners at the Mountain West Classic in Missoula Saturday.
Lee, a 5-1 senior from Bloomfield, N.M., majoring in English education, has won the WAC indoor 5,000-meter race twice and the WAC 10,000-meter twice.
While at BYU, Lee has been named All-WAC academic in track and cross country and to the Cougar Club academic lists.
Through last season, she had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75.
BYU basketball season-ticket deadline near
The deadline for BYU basketball season-ticket holders to renew their tickets is Friday at 5 p.m.
David Miles, BYU ticket manager, said applications should be returned to the Marriott Center Ticket Office by the deadline for fans to retain buying priority.
Fans who would like to order season tickets may do so in person at the Marriott Center Ticket Office or by calling 1-800-322-BYU1. Public season tickets are $84 (above concourse bleacher) and $134 (above concourse chair). Youth Hoop Heaven season tickets are available for $39.

Volleyball team downs Boise State
OGDEN - Annette Hill had 18 kills and Katie Deisinger 14 as the Wildcat volleyball team spiked Boise State, 8-15, 15-8, 15-13 and 15-11, Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. The victory improved Weber State's record to 6-6, while the Broncos dropped to 7-7.
Running back suspended indefinitely
OGDEN - Aaron Fisher, a running back on the Weber State University football team, has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. The suspension was announced by WSU head football coach, Dave Arslanian.
Fisher, who was voted the top offensive player in last spring's drills, has played in just two games thus far, rushing 15 times for 53 yards. He suffered a pulled hamstring in fall preseason camp and missed one game as a result of the injury.
Wildcat golfers compete in California tourney
OGDEN - Weber State's men's golf team is back in action, playing in the Robertson Homes Collegiate Invitational, in Stockton, California. The tournament is hosted by the University of the Pacific.
The 54-hole event begins on Monday at the Stockton Country Club (Par 71, 6,426 yards) with 36 holes. The final 18 is scheduled for Tuesday.
Women golfers in Oregon tournament
Weber State's women's golf team will compete at the Oregon State Invitational this coming Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Oregon.
Wildcat harriers in action at Husky meet
OGDEN - After a two-week rest, the Weber State University women's cross country team is back in action this week, running in the University of Washington Husky Invitational on Saturday.
