AUDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR UPCOMING PLAYS

Auditions have been scheduled for several upcoming stage productions on the following dates:

- Sept. 30 & Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Orson Spencer Hall on the University of Utah campus for the French Theater Co. production of Woody Allen's "Play It Again, Sam." The play will be presented the first week in January. The bilingual cast will perform the French version the first night, followed by the English version the second night.Richard Berchan, U. professor emeritus, said the Woody Allen play is the first of three scheduled during the next nine months. The winter quarter production will be "Pelleas et Melisande," with "Gigi" being staged during spring quarter.

- Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. for the StageStop Theatre's production of "A Christmas Carol." These auditions are for adults only (performers 18 years of age or older).

- Oct. 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Realms of Inquiry private school, 1140 S. 900 East, for Metro Theatre Works' production of "Broadway: Music of the Night," the first in a series of musical revues to be presented by the company. Artistic Director Mikal Troy Klee said there are roles for three females and two males. Age and race are not a consideration for the casting. Auditioners' voices will be the deciding factor.

Please bring your own taped accompaniment. An accompanist will not be provided.

The revue will consist of songs from Broadway shows, both past and present. MTW is also looking for persons interested in lighting, stage management and other technical aspects. The production will open Nov. 18.

- Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hale Center Theater, 2801 S. Main, for "See How They Run," being directed by Ron Jewett.

All roles will be double cast. There are parts available for men and women 20 years of age and older, especially actors with great comedic timing. All auditioners must call the theater first (at 484-9257) to schedule an appointment.

The show opens Dec. 29 and continues through Feb. 13. Cast members will receive a stipend.

- Oct. 6, 8 & 10 for the Heritage Theatre's production of Lionel Bart's "Oliver!" Auditions for adults, ranging in age from 18 to 75, will be from 7 until 9 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 10, with children's auditions (those 8 to 15 years of age) from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Oct. 8.

The musical, being directed by Mac Edwards, requires 12 men, 12 women, 12 boys and 12 girls. It's based on Charles Dickens' classic tale, "Oliver Twist," and contains such songs as "Where is Love" and "Consider Yourself (at Home)."

Auditioners will be asked to sing one verse and one chorus of an upbeat song and read from the script. Resumes are helpful, but not required. The children's auditions will include a lunch break at 1 p.m. Children under the age of 14 should have a parent or guardian present at the auditions.

Play dates are Jan. 20-Feb. 11 (Mondays & Fridays-Saturdays). The Heritage Theatre is located in Perry, just south of Brigham City.

- Oct. 12, 13 & 15 for the Heritage Theatre's Christmas show, "The Homecoming," inspired by "The Waltons" TV series and made-for-TV movie. (Times for these auditions will be announced.)
