An American Fork woman died Saturday night after apparently jumping from the cab of her boyfriend's speeding pickup truck.
Suzanne Floyd, 43, had injuries consistent with a fall from a moving vehicle when Utah County sheriff's deputies found her body two miles north of Elberta about 11 p.m., said Lt. Ron Fernstedt. The truck was traveling about 70 mph northbound on U-68, he said.Deputies began searching for Floyd after her boyfriend, also of American Fork, called them and said she had jumped from the truck.
"It appears to be a self-inflicted, accidental death," Fernstedt said.
The results of an autopsy, performed by the state medical examiner's office Sunday, were not available Monday.
The driver, whose name was not released, was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of automobile homicide. Fernstedt said the man was taken into custody because he apparently was under the influence of alcohol.
Automobile homicide is a criminal charge that does not require a show of intent, he said.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
"Detectives are trying to determine the actual precipitated cause of the event," Fernstedt said.
