Three boys have been arrested following the attack of a 17-year-old girl who was assaulted by several teens dressed in black ninja-style suits.
Kristina Coles said she was walking through a field when four boys armed with a blowgun, nunchkus and a Swiss Army knife jumped from the bushes Friday night and slashed her face."They were holding my legs and hands down, and one was on top," Coles said. "All I did was punch and kick and tried to get my way out of it."
The 14-year-old boys were scared away when someone walked through the field. Coles jumped a fence and darted to her house to call police.
"If that person hadn't walked into the field, they could have killed me," she said.
Authorities cornered three of the boys in bushes at a nearby house and recovered a knife at one boy's home. Police believe the teens were waiting to ambush a girl who planned to toilet paper one of their houses.
Coles said she does not know the boys and has lived in the neighborhood for only about two weeks.
The brother of one of the boys said the teens are avid fans of martial-arts movies and have taken karate lessons for about two years.
"They've had those karate suits for about a year. I don't know why. It's just because they're young and like to have fun," the brother said.
The teens were expected to stay at a juvenile detention center over the holiday weekend, he said.
