A fourth person believed to have been involved in the drug-related kidnapping and killing of a man last month was arrested Monday in Salt Lake City.
Todd Alan Oviedo, 18, 625 W. 200 North, was booked into jail on warrants charging him with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.Investigators say Oviedo was one of several people who abducted Jacinto Delgado-Romero, 25, from the downtown area on Aug. 28. The suspects believed the victim had spied on their drug sales, according to court documents.
Delgado-Romero was taken to a house at 322 S. Emery St. (1170 West), where he was forced into a bedroom, severely beaten and then shot. He apparently ran from the home and staggered to a neighbor's back porch, where he died.
Oviedo is not believed to have participated in the beating or shooting, said Salt Lake police detective James Alcock.
Carlos Martinez Sanchez, 26, and a man identified only as Sergio Doe are each charged with murder and aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies. Juan Garcia, 16, is charged with aggravated kidnapping in juvenile court. Police are still looking for the man known only as Sergio and believe he has fled the state.
Alcock said other arrests may be made because several people were involved in the incident. Many are part of a cocaine distribution group run by Mexican nationals, he said.
