Utahns are urged to share their memories of the Utah State Fair.

This year's theme, "Great Old Memories, Brand New Fair," is a time to reflect on all the good times the fair has provided as well as to look forward to the future, says fair director Jackie Nokes."We've got a great fair tradition in Utah, and we know there are some great memories out there. We just want people to share them with us . . . stories about romance, chance encounters, learning about the `right' end of a cow," Nokes said.

Entries should be mailed to the Utah State Fair, 155 N. 1000 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116, or faxed to 538-8455. All entries will become property of the fair. Those who submit entries should understand that gives officials permission to publicize or publish contents of entries.

Entries must be received on or before Sept. 12. Fair T-shirts and other memorabilia will be awarded for the best entries, which will be judged by the Utah State Fairpark staff.

The fair opens for an 11-day run beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8. Admission is free from 3 to 5 p.m. that day. A parade begins at 5 p.m.
