Better tracking of people with multiple parking violations by the Brigham Young University Traffic Office may soon make parking on campus a little easier and safer.
"Recently, the Traffic Office developed the ability to better track individuals who have multiple parking violations," said Steve Baker of University Police. "Anyone receiving seven or more citations within a 12-month period, whether those citations are paid or unpaid, will have their parking and driving privileges on campus revoked."Campus parking regulations were created to control and protect parking for authorized individuals, according to Baker. One problem that has persisted throughout the years is caused by people who intentionally and regularly abuse the parking accommodations, he said.
Although the policy has been in effect for many years, the Traffic Office now has rapid, accurate information available on parking violations.
