ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS JOIN TO OPPOSE DISNEY THEME PARK

A coalition of environmental groups Friday joined the opposition to Disney's planned theme park in northern Virginia, saying it would create a nightmare for commuters in the Washington area.

Citizens Against Gridlock, a coalition of organizations opposed to Disney's plans, said the roads leading to the attraction would become clogged, leading to poor air quality and environmental damage."By leap-frogging Washington's western perimeter and putting its development beyond the reach of public transportation, Disney will cause greatly increased dependence on cars," said Sandy Hillyer, a coalition member.
