PAIR OF KOWARIS TAKE PEEK AT NEW HOME AT HOGLE ZOO

A pair of kowaris, a small, mouselike marsupial that is indigenous to central Australia, was introduced to their new home Thursday at Hogle Zoo.

Born earlier this year at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, the kowari young are nurtured in the female's pouch until approximately two months old. They then emerge and are cared for in an underground nest. Kowari mature at approximately 11 months.
