"Sockeye and the Sissy," which recently premiered at the Hale Center Theater in South Salt Lake, will be presented as a special benefit performance on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Hale Center Theater in Orem, with all proceeds going to the Ouelessebougou Alliance, a Utah-based charity that helps fight disease, malnutrition and poverty in the Ouelessebougou region of Mali, West Africa.
Working with the alliance, Dr. Phil Hale is attempting to extend the medical project to the adjacent Kelea region, where 24 villages have no medical care. Funds from this performance will be earmarked for medicine and supplies for the Kelean natives.The performance will begin at 8 p.m., and admission will be by minimum donation of $6.
