WSU and MCI Telecommunications have teamed up to provide the campus community with access to the Internet.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university will be offered the service beginning Oct. 11. Fees will be $12 per month for up to 15 hours of use. Line charges are free within the Ogden local calling area. A 1-800 number will be available for users outside the local area at an additional charge of 10 cents per minute.

Don Gardner, WSU information officer, said the partnership is important because it offers students and faculty access to the Internet from their home computers. The campus modem pool is not large enough to provide an adequate level of service, he said. WSU and MCI expect at least 4,000 subscribers.

MCI will have representatives on campus Oct. 11-13 to answer questions and provide hands-on use of the system. Technical tents will be set up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside, near the Bell Tower. In case of inclement weather, the technical tents will be located in the breezeway of the Shepherd Union Building.

For more information on the service, call 626-7660.
