Ogden has received a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) loan guarantee for $1.4 million to assist in the relocation of John Affleck Park. The current park will be the future site of an auto dealership.

"Ogden city is committed to a new park in the Jefferson neighborhood," said Ogden Mayor Glenn J. Mecham. "A neighborhood task force has made a recommendation, which will be considered by the City Council in December."The design of the new park will be based on neighborhood recommendations. The design will offer greater accessibility from the neighborhood, which should increase usage over that at the current John Affleck Park. Ogden officials have pledged future federal Community Development Block Grants to the loan guarantee.
