SHARE POLICE RESPOND TO APARTMENT WHERE 4 GUNSHOTS WERE FIRED

As many as four gunshots from a 9mm handgun were fired from inside a room in a Salt Lake apartment complex early Friday morning, while one of the rounds entered a neighbor's apartment.

Police responded to the complex at 671 S. 200 East just after 6 a.m. and met a tenant who told police somebody shot up his apartment. There were no reports of injuries.According to a police report, the bullet came through the ceiling of apartment No. 8, hit the top of a stereo, hit a wall and then landed on the kitchen floor of apartment No. 10.

Two male Hispanics who live in apartment No. 8, ages 20 and 24, are suspected in the shooting.

Police investigated the apartment where the shots came from and found one 9mm casing, a broken television with a bullet hole and several holes in a wooden stereo cabinet. Rounds also penetrated a wall behind the stereo where a closet and more 9mm shells were located.

Several 0.22-caliber rounds were also found in the apartment near the stereo, as well as in the suspect's van.

The victim told police he heard a loud bang and then what sounded like someone wrestling on the floor. About 15 minutes later he heard four shots.

Another witness also heard the shots and walked outside to see the suspects walking down a staircase. Their vehicle was impounded as a result of the shooting.
