SOCCER: The soccer team fell to 5-5-2, after a tough loss to Gonzaga University (2-11-0), 3-2. The Utes scored first as freshman forward Kathy Bullock hit one past the Bulldogs' keeper at the 12:28 mark. Gonzaga followed suit on loose ball shot off a free kick. Senior forward Joanna Barney fed a pass to freshman Yolanda Yrizarris, who calmly found the back of the net at the 40:27 mark. During the second half, the Utes were out-shot 7-4. The inability to control the second half was due to a "lack of communication and our lack of focus," said Ute coach Amy Freeman Winslow.
Up next for the Utes is a trip to northern California to face Pacific on Oct. 20 and Sacramento State on Oct. 22. The next home game for the Utes is Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. against Brigham Young.
