Johanna Gilbert, 96, passed away October 18, 1995.

Born October 3, 1899, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Immigrated to America in 1916, with her parents and five sisters, two brothers. Became a U.S. citizen in 1941. Married Albert Gilbert in the Logan Temple in 1917. Moved to Riverton, Utah in 1922.Johanna loved to tend to her flowers. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed hand sewing. Held various church positions. Enjoyed cooking for her 13 children. The grandchildren looked forward to dinner at Grandma's. Traveled extensively with her loving husband, Bert, visiting the LDS temples worldwide. She always had an optimistic attitude, and we loved her for it.

Survived by five sons, A. George (Delylla) Gilbert, Sandy; Golden (Chris) Gilbert, Los Gatos, Calif.; Melvin (Joan) Gilbert, Riverton; Wesley (Bob) (Ina) Gilbert, West Valley City; and Dean (Shirley) Gilbert, Blackfoot, Idaho; eight daughters, Margaret Gillett, Donna (Earl) Adams, both Riverton; Elaine (Ray) McReynolds, West Valley City; Jean (Donald) Allen, Sandy; Grace (Thomas) Mackey, Ione, Wash.; Eunice (Stephen) McDaniel, Lyman, Wyo.; Nancy Lee (Harold) Call, Bountiful; and Darlene (Richard) Hirschi, Holladay; 58 grandchildren; 144 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, John Szybrowsky, and Paul Szybrowsky, and two sisters, Ella Knight, and Ellen McHenry. Preceded in death by husband, one son, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services Monday, October 23rd, at 11 a.m., Riverton 13th Ward, 12830 South 2700 West. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, and at the ward Monday, one hour prior. Interment, South Jordan Cemetery.
