The Million Man March struck me as a sham. Watching Farrakhan is to watch the little chancellor and the 1930s deja vu. I see him as a dissembler using noble veneers (often thin) in an attempt to dupe.
His content and demeanor are suspect. I'm fearful of his vociferous insistence to take credit for his ideas. No great person ever makes a point of arrogating honor. On the contrary, they play themselves down. The proof of the pudding is his security guards. While "our" security men (CIA, etc.) look only tough, bland and often a bit benign, his look tough and hostile, and it's a constant look. Their eyes are truly frightening. In both the O.J. Simpson events and the Washington, D.C., march, these guards had that look. It's not a look of protectiveness of our traditional values. It's a look of malice - hidden, they hope. It's not hidden from me.
