Brigham Young University President Rex E. Lee was released from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Saturday following five days of treatment for a fever related to a walking pneumonia.
Lee admitted himself to the facility Tuesday evening.Brent Harker, BYU public relations director, said the fever had not responded to treatment until the president was put on intravenous antibiotics.
Lee, who has requested a release from presidential responsibilities, has suffered from immunoblastic lymphoma that is currently in remission. He has also been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, a disease that impairs his mobility by affecting the spinal and cranial nerve network.
His repeated bouts with illness prompted his request for permission to resign.
