Councilmen Clair Huff and B. Jeff Rasmussen failed in their re-election bids, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, as a field of nine City Council candidates was narrowed to six in Tuesday's primary.

Four of the top five finishers, according to complete but unofficial results, are candidates aligned under the slogan "Stop the Madness." They oppose high-density development and want to give control "back to the citizens."In addition to Bedke, voters sent Planning Commission member Lyn Kimball on to the general election along with Stop the Madness candidates Lloyd Sutcliffe, Bruce Ryman and Summer Pugh and former Planning Commission Chairwoman Melanie Dansie.
