Our devoted and beloved mother, grandmother and wife, 78, passed away Friday, October 6, 1995 in the Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah, of heart failure.

She was born June 26, 1917 in Ferron, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Dillard and Delilah Foote DeFriez. She married James Evan Sphar March 7, 1941 in Los Angeles. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 54 years. In early childhood she had lived in several towns in Utah, moving to Los Angeles in her late teens, where she met and married her sweetheart, Jimmy. They retired to West Point in 1975. She was a member of the West Point Fourth Ward. Her life's work and joy was her children and grandchildren. Her faith and prayers carried all she knew.Lois is survived by her husband, of West Point; five sons and two daughters, Ronald Evan (Suzanne) Sphar of West Jordan; Gary James (Connie) Sphar, Van Nuys, Calif.; Robert Allen (Kathy) Sphar and Timothy Kirk Sphar, both of Simi Valley, Calif.; Raymond Joseph (Sandy) Sphar of Fairfield, Calif.; Nancy Lois Sphar of Ogden, Utah; Renee Elizabeth (Richard) Santhon, West Point, Utah; 19 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Ruben E. (Bonnie) DeFriez, West Jordan, Utah; Reva (Lynn) Brunson, Provo, Utah; Pearl (Ellis) Smith, Washington Terrace, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 1995, 11 a.m. at the West Point Stake Center, 550 N. 2300 W. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State. Also on Wednesday at the Stake Center 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, LIndquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
