David Floyd Briggs, much loved father, grandfather and friend, passed away November 11, 1995 at the age of 77 after a life of devotion and service to others, to join his beloved wife, LaVerne and Heavenly Father.

David was born April 16, 1918 in Syracuse, Utah, to Pearl May Benson and James Alvin Briggs. He married LaVerne Johnson, July 21, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He has resided in Bountiful, Utah for the last 40 years. He was very active in athletics at Davis High and was selected as an All State Athlete. He served his country during World War II, was a graduate of OCS, and retired as a Major int he US Army. He worked at Bennett's Glass and Paint for over 40 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served diligently in several leadership positions, including Bishop and High Councilman.There was nothing he loved more than serving and enjoying time with his family and friends. He is well loved by his grandchildren and they will always treasure the special moments they had with him. Dave is an example to his children of patience, kindness and love. He endured to the end without complaint or thought of himself.

We will all miss his presence, Saturday morning breakfasts, Sunday potatoes and gravy, and holiday candies. We will also miss his sense of humor, strength, and testimony.

David is survived by his four children: Janice (Daniel A.) Sims, Bountiful; JoAnn (D. Howard) Olson, Bountiful; David L. (Debbie Kimball) Briggs, Moreno Valley, California; and Joyce (Michael A.) Campbell, Centerville; 26 grandchildren, and special in-laws. He was preceded in death six months ago by his wife, LaVerne. Also preceded in death by parents, brothers and sister, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 1995 at 1 p.m. in the Bountiful 13th Ward, 1356 North 650 East. Friends may call at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
