Robert Grant Blake, 82, died November 13, 1995 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born June 21, 1913 in Salt Lake City, to Herbert J. and Lillian P. Stelter Blake. Married Ruby Magleby on September 4, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple by President Heber J. Grant. Graduated from East High School at 16 years of age. Attended the University of Utah for two years. Received a Standard Certificate from the American Institute of Banking. Completed several correspondence courses. Passed the Certified Public Accounting test in 1943, and admitted to that organization with Certificate #125. Active in CPA organization for many years, serving as President of the Central Chapter. Also a member of the American Institute of CPA. Received a Certificate from them in 1985 for Fifty Years Honorary Membership. Employed by J.A. Hogle & Co., civil service jobs with the Railroad Retirement Board; and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Cost accountant for U.P.M. Contractors building Geneva Steel. Assistant office manager of Cloverleaf Dairy. After receiving his CPA certificate, he was made chief accountant of the State of Utah Department of Finance under Governor Maw. Employed by the Lang Company for 18 years, as office manager and secretary and treasurer, and a director. Helped organized the Truck Equipment Sales Company, and became a stockholder, secretary and treasurer, and director. Helped form TESCO of Idaho, and became their controller, secretary and treasurer, and director. Retired in 1975. For 20 years he taught accounting at the Henegar Business College at night school. Member of the Salt Lake Lions Club and DinOrators.Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in two bishoprics as a clerk, group leader of High Priests, counselor in the Stake Sunday School, and for 14 years was assistant stake clerk physical facilities in Highland Stake. Served for 13 years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
Survived by his wife; two sons and two daughters, R. John (Charlene) Blake, of Orem; David G. (Judith) Blake, Ann B. Farrell, and Elizabeth B. (Robert H.) Shelton, all of Salt Lake City; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna B. Baldwin. Preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Beverly B. Frame.
Funeral services Thursday, November 16, at 12 noon, Stratford East Ward Chapel, 2605 South 1500 East. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. and at the ward on Thursday, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
