We really appreciated the thorough coverage on election night by the local television affiliates. Down in Provo, we were riveted to the set as results of the Taylorsville-Bennion elections were continually updated. Coverage of the Midway and St. George initiatives was equally impressive.

The intentional lack of coverage of the Provo races was really cool, with suspense building until Wednesday morning when we read the results in the paper. Particularly noteworthy were the two following items: first, one of the local announcers put Dan Jones to shame by making a gutsy victory announcement in one particular race with only 21 percent of the precincts reporting.Secondly, we were impressed with how professionally Mayor Corradini acted when she first received news of possible victory. We hope that all the young kids were watching this role model. Salt Lake City can be proud of a mayor with a 6-inch vertical. Again, hats off to the local stations. This is the kind of journalism we can all be proud of.
