Anyone looking for Kelsey Grammer on the set of "Frasier" late last week found the doctor was out.
Grammer, who plays a slightly insecure radio psychiatrist on the NBC show, called in sick for three days because he wants his $150,000 weekly salary doubled, according to TV Guide. The action halted production.Grammer returned to work this week. He has denied the story. The network released a statement downplaying his absence and executives refused to say whether he got a raise.
This is the second time the good doctor has caused ill feelings by walking off the set. The first time, in September, it worked: He received a raise. This time, Grammer was upset because he won't receive any profit from the series' 1997 syndication.
"He was definitely underpaid when this show first launched," one source told TV Guide. "Ever since then, he's been trying to make things right."
