Basketball

YOUTH LEAGUE. will be accepting registration for the '95-'96 Utah Jazz Youth League. Girls registration Oct. 9 - Nov. 22. Boys register Oct. 14 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 24, 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $45.

JR. JAZZ. The East Millcreek Recreation Center (272-2243), The Salt Lake County Northwest recreation center (596-0072), and Copperview Community Center (561-0075) are now taking applications for the winter Jr. Jazz basketball program. Fee is $45 per player and includes games, Jazz player appearace, jersey, team photo and awards. Games will be played on Saturdays.

MEN`S LEAGUE. Registration is being taken for a men's league at the northwest multipurpose center at 1300 W 300 N. Fee is $225 per team. Play begins Nov. 27 each Tuesday. 596-0072.

Soccer

YOUTH LEAGUES. East Millcreek Recreation Center is organizing a youth indoor league for boys and girls ages 4-15. Registration is Oct. 9 through Dec. 9. Cost is $30. Season begins Jan. 6, 1996. 272-2243.

Salt Lake County Northwest recreation center is taking applications for a youth indoor league. Fee is $10 per player.

Volleyball

WALLYBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is starting a drop-in league for all levels of play. This is on-going event. Informal leagues on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and Friday at 9 p.m. Free for members, $4 for non-members. Structured league on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with round-robin and double elimination tournaments every 6 weeks. 942-2582.

ACTING. Farmington City Recreation is accepting registration for adults 18 and older for the new class, "The Art of Acting & Communicating." The class will be held on two consecutive Saturday Nov. 4 & 11. 451-0953.

CAR SHOWS. Associated Wheels of Utah, meets the 2nd Monday of each month at Round Table Pizza on 54th South and Redwood Road to plan the Annual Charity Car Show. Proceeds go to help individuals with mental retardation. All are invited to attend, club member or not. 364-5060.

DISABLE PROGRAMS. Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer recreation and leisure experiences to individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Adapted Sports is designed to meet the physical and social needs of each participant. The objectives are to teach fundamentals of sports with emphasis on fun, cooperation, fair play and team building skills. 561-0075.

PRACTICAL SHOOTING. The Salt Lake Practical Shooting Association will hold monthly matches and practice sessions. Monthly matches will be held at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Hendricksen PMAA range at the East Canyon exit of I-80 in Parleys Canyon. Call 580-7836 or 942-8573.

REI. Cross-Country skiing basics will get a review from Chris Allaire of Solitude on Tuesday, November 21. . . . On Tuesday, Nov. 28 the Utah Avalanche Forecast Center will present a vidio and slide show that promises to be unforgettable. They will instruct the basics of winter route finding and avalanche safety. . . . On Tuesday, Dec. 5 Rick Wyatt will present a slide show and lead a discussion on local backcountry skiing opportunities. WEIGHT TRAINING. Alta Canyon Sports is offering Teen Weight Training Workouts Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6 p.m., and on Saturday 10-11 a.m. Coaching provided. Fee is $1.50 for area residents, $2.50 for others. 942-2582. . . . They also are sponsoring a weight resistance and circuit training class that targets all four components of fitness: strength muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility.

WILDERNESS RENDEZVOUS. The Utah Wilderness Association will hold its 16th annual Rendezvous Sat. Nov. 18 at the Sugarhouse Garden Center, from 6 to 10 p.m. The event features a potluck dinner, readings on Utah's wild lands, a silent auction and a discussion on the future of the Utah Wilderness Association. 359-1337.
