The Utah Department of Commerce has announced appointments to four of its professional licensing boards.

All four individuals have been chosen to serve as at-large representatives from the general public.The appointments are: Mario Alburges, Salt Lake City, to the Board of Recreational Therapy; Maria Sweeten Pace, Kaysville, to the Health Care Assistant Registration Board; Fred Peake, Salt Lake City, to the Deception Detection Examiners Board; and Gloria Fukui Brady, Salt Lake City, to the Alarm System Security and Licensing Board.

"It's important to our goal of balanced regulation to be able to attract talented individuals with diverse views to serve on our boards," said Doug Borba, executive director of the department. "Their input and perspectives, as a member of the general public, are extremely important as the boards address questions and issues that have the potential to affect us all."
