Reggie Ingram's 24 points paced Southern Utah to a solid 87-59 win over ZTE-Goldsun Saturday night in the Centrum. Branislav Dzunic paced the Hungarian team, which trailed by only five at the break, with 14 points.
Ingram was one of four Thunderbirds to score in double figures as SUU shot 57 percent from the field (28 of 49) and 50 percent from beyond the arc (7 of 14). SUU forced 20 turnovers while committing only 10."I liked our defensive play a whole lot more than our offense. We're still out of sync and that concerns me with only six days before the games start counting," said SUU head coach Bill Evans.
SUU guard Daryl Christopher found his shooting touch again by going a perfect 5 of 5 from the field, including three treys for 13 points. Brad Bodily and Don Faux each added 11 points and Faux finished with a game-high 11 rebounds for Southern Utah.
"Faux can really rebound the ball and that's something we're really going to need to make up for our lack of size," said Evans. "It's nice to see us outrebound a team that is so much bigger than we are. That shows the kids are working hard."
SUU opens the regular season next Friday at home against NCAA Division II's CS-Stanislaus.
