Vivian's long and valiant fight with life ended November 18, 1995, due to complications of diabetes.
Born April 11, 1933, to Herman Gilbert Day and Blanche Emma Clark Day. She lived most of her life in Danville, Illinois. She later moved to southern California and has been a resident of West Valley City for the last eight years.Married March 17, 1951, to Delver "Buzz" Songer. They had 11 children. She was exemplary in her self-sacrifice, ingenuity and determination to make a life for her children and countless other children. You didn't dare my mom anything and she loved purple.
She was preceded in death by bother parents, her husband in March of this year, son Herman Christopher, and grandson Delver Mikado.
She is survived by 10 children: Delver Ellsworth of West Valley City, Diana Lynn Stewart of West Jordan, Aleta Marie Livingston of Ft. Worth, Texas; Peter Gilbert of North Hollywood, Calif.; "Marty" Martha Ann Potter of West Valley, Lenard Wayne of West Valley, William Eugene of Salt Lake City, "Tia" Teena Louise Thulin of Tacoma, Wash.; Patricia Jo Potter of Salt Lake, and Sarah Ruth Perkins of Salt Lake. They have provided her with 19 living grandchildren. She is also survived by her half sister, Sharon Brooks of Kissimee, Florida.
Funeral services will be at the Salt Lake Memorial Mausoleum and Mortuary, 1001 11th Avenue, Salt Lake City, on Wednesday, November 22, 1995, at 12 noon. Viewing Tuesday, November 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon followed by cryptside services.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Houchins and staff for their kindness given to her during Vivian's illness.
